An educational Study, as inspired by Gurdjieff and authentic sources
This CD-ROM lifts the veil that has hidden the Gurdjieff Movements for such a long time. It represents the first attempt ever to show a relevant selection of these Movements to all potential students, without any discrimination.
As a next, equally new and daring step, this CD-ROM offers a separate step-by-step analysis of the Movements in unprecedented detail by means of the additional demonstration of all patterns, positions and gestures by an expert. The result of this is a comprehensive and coherent educational approach that will make it possible for a Movements student to practice and study at any convenient time and place, alone or with others.
For those engaged in Movements-classes, it will prove to be a valuable way of improving their preparation for classes. This educational study has been created for the benefit of both the beginning and the experienced students.

The presentation follows the beautiful design of Wim van Dulleman's web site and is technically of the same high quality. Music is played by Wim van Dullemen and the performers are highly skilled.
The CD includes the general history of the Movements and music, 10 movements shown in live performance and as an educational study. In the educational study one can follow the feet, hands and head separately, which is a great help in doing them. Moreover there are interviews with people who have been doing the movements with their views on what they have meant to them.
The presentation has also detailed advice on how one can prepare oneself before starting to practice. This is an important point as jumping into them 'cold' can only end up in frustration.
To get the full benefit of the CD I would advice to have a good monitor, not smaller than 17", but preferably larger and with high resolution. I think this is very important as you need to see what is happening not while you are sitting by your computer, but when you are standing up, which means that the distance to your monitor is 'not the usual one' you need also room to move. The ideal solution would be a very big monitor like the one's now used for some public TV shows - and over 1x1 m monitors are available to-day for PC's.
The one element that is a great help in a Movements class, other people, are not 'with you', which of course means that the experience is not at all the same in this respect. However, if you follow the instructions they will give you an idea of the Work that goes into doing the Movements and will also show very clearly your quality of attention; no doubt there is some room for improvement.
The overall impression is that this is a super effort that does open new ways of practicing the Movements and getting to know what they represent.
